I keep thinking it just feels so springy and could be a fun and refreshing wardrobe update to throw in for the season. But! I have reservations with pink beyond it looking horrible near my face because I
{a} ~ don't want to look like an easter egg
{b} ~ don't want to look "too sweet"
{c} ~ don't want to appear silly wearing it
So I've been playing around with different options on Polyvore to see if I could come up with something that I might like before running out and grabbing them. The pants I chose on Polyvore are not actually what the real pants look like {aka, the ones I'm considering are NOT skinnies!}, but they were about the closest thing I could find in color on Polyvore to represent them.
First up, some navy and pink combinations. I kind of like these. The navy keeps them from being "too sweet" I think. And they seem like great mom~on~the~go type of outfits.
Next up I went with some pink and green combinations because hey, deep down I'm kind of a preppy sort of gal! The first one is more of a pale green which kind of feels a little "sweet" to me, but with the right accessories it feels more of a "grownup sweet" than "childish sweet" if that makes sense. It might not be a combination I wear often, but for the right occasion I think it might be nice:
The next green combination is more of a bright playful green which could be really fun. I couldn't find a shirt I liked with this combination on Polyvore yet, but I think you get the vibe I'm going for with it?
The last combination that I didn't have time to play around with yet was a classic chocolate and pink combination. I may have to play around with polyvore ideas for that one later.
So over to you:
Are you a pink person?
What are your favorite things to wear with pink?
oh, i love these combos! i think colored pants/capris are so fun and perfect for spring. i especially love the first green + pink ensemble! go for it!!
ReplyDeleteIf you have the legs to pull off the Bal Harbour, preppy pink capris, then go for it! I think the key to not looking juvenile is to pair the capri's with a tailored top; the white 3/4 sleeve cotton blouse and navy/white striped sweater are excellent choices. May I also suggest some espadrilles? Also, keep the jewelry either bold and artsy or tailored and ladylike. You do not want anything cute.
ReplyDeleteI like your choices; very Jackie O.
I wonder if I played around with polyvore, I would get a little bit more excited about getting dressed again. I have NO zest for dressing anymore, which kind of really depresses me. hmmm. Reading your inspiration and ideas is sparking a little ember in my fashion soul, let's kick up the momentum a bit! I LOVE getting to know you through your creative side!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary ~ I went ahead and got the pants today! Now to have some fun with them!
ReplyDeleteJackie-O! Now she was one stylish woman! Maybe I should find some great Jackie-esque sunglasses to go with some of my new looks! And I like the espadrille idea too Rebekah! You always have such great ideas!
And Mandi~ I just want to give you a big hug and say it's ok! I went through a major fashion slump after my last baby. I'm just barely coming back out of it and it feels so good again! But I so know the feeling of having no zest or desire about getting dressed ~ it's something I've wanted to start blogging a little bit about sometime. Maybe I will soon!
Love the combinations. I love pink altho' have never been brave enough to wear pink trousers. However, here in Spain, women are very adventurous with colour, and pink always looks fab in the summer.
ReplyDeleteOh I'd love to know how the lovely spanish women wear their pink Vanessa! Oooo la la! Or however you would say that in spanish! ;)
