The weather was cold and dreary today. A few in the family have been battling colds and runny noses so we have been blissfully drinking our herbal teas lately. But as the flurries began to fall this afternoon I decided to have some fun and bust out a Pumpkin Spice Warmer instead of hot chocolate for the kids when they came inside from playing in the snow.
Pumpkin Spice Warmer
4 cups milk {or milk substitute}1 cup Sucanat {or brown sugar}1 cup canned or cooked pumpkin4 tsp pure vanilla1 tsp pumpkin pie spiceCombine everything in a saucepan and heat on medium high. Stir until heated through. Serves about 4.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy! My daughter said it was like drinking a pumpkin pie! Mmmm! Pumpkin pie! Yum! :) If you're like me and don't like things quite as sweet, you could decrease the amount of sugar. But really this has a nice, comforting flavor that is fun for colder weather. Enjoy!
It's not nearly as cold here in Atlanta (we're in the mid 50s) but that sounds so yummy. I'm definitely going to make this as a pre-bedtime, cozy down drink.
ReplyDelete50 degree weather? Aaahhh! That sounds nice! This would be a perfect relaxing pre-bedtime drink! That's a great idea! :)
DeleteYum; this converts well into smoothies, too.
ReplyDeleteMmmm! Smoothies! I should try that! ;)
