Walls should be backdrops, not main features. Hmmm. I agree to some point, I mean I have areas of my house with neutral colors that I love because they go with just about everything and makes it easy to change things up a bit. But for me, a bold color on the walls is the absolute easiest way to decorate. And I'm not just talking on one wall. No wimping out with an accent wall please! We're talking wall to wall color! And I'm even partial to painting the ceiling in the same bold color too.
Why?

My daughter has had two bold rooms now. And I have to say they have been my very favorite rooms to date. Here in her second bold room we had the color matched to the blue in the Ikea curtain fabric. LOVE it!
We even paint the ceiling the same color. It makes it easier when you're repainting too because then I can relax and not worry about getting straight lines and keeping paint off the adjoining different colored wall {or ceiling}.
Does it make the room feel too enclosed? Nope. It surprisingly actually makes the room feel bigger. It seems like it pushes the walls out and the ceiling up higher. Yet it also feels very safe, cozy and warm in a nice comforting sort of way.
I know bold colors aren't for everyone. But it's an easy {and enjoyable} formula for me:
Bold color
+
simple bedding
+
simple accessories
=
a gorgeous drama filled room!
It works for me!
