Anyway, I love the advice she gives on dressing your size as you are right now. I think it's appropriate even if you are "trying to lose weight".
"Embrace your size, your current size at the time. Embrace it. Love your body. And wear clothes that fit. You're going to feeel better. You're going to look better. And when you feel better, you feel healthier, you feel more confident. You make better choices when it comes to food and exercise because you're feeling good in your body. What you put on your body is such a huge part of your fitness level, your expression of health because its affecting how you feel every day of your life. So get in the right size of clothing, regardless of the size."
So take a look, she has a lot of other interesting things to say on the subject:
I know I have felt better about myself when I actually dress in the correct size {even though I have all this extra baby weight I still have to lose}. Remind me sometime to tell you about the experience I had when I actually met Carol Tuttle back in November. {It deeply affected me ~ I'm still trying to come to terms with what she told me.}
So the moral of all this? Honor yourself and dress for the size you are now. You will feel better about yourself if you do.
Now don't forget to check our her blog too! I think you will enjoy her!
I like this. Great post. Carol has a lot to offer and we can all learn from her.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true! From personal experience in dressing myself and others, you must shop for and dress the body you have now. If you are seeking to lose excess fat, then shop modestly. Big, round people always, always, always look better in clothing with tailored lines. My wide hips and tree-trunk thighs look leaner and proportionally correct in fitted skirts and trousers.
ReplyDeleteI have a recurring fantasy of kidnapping frumpy women I see on the street to take them shopping for properly fitting clothes. I could be the Fairy Clothing Godmother.
Lol! I have a recurring dream that someone would kidnap me and give me lots of money for a new wardrobe ala What Not To Wear! But then that would mean I would have to be a horrible dresser and while I don't think I'm a perfect dresser, I hope I'm not really THAT bad either! :D
ReplyDeletewait, what did she tell you when you met her???
ReplyDeleteOh Anna! I've been trying to digest it since then and I just haven't quite figured out how to frame it all into words yet. But I think I'm getting close and then I will blog it ~ I promise!
